X-RAY MACHINES WHEN TRAVELING
“The last time I was traveling, I noticed a sign on the carry-on luggage x-ray machine that read: 'caution radiation'. I had had gorgeous organic orange peppers in my carry-on and immediately became sad upon the realization that my tasty treat was now going to be radiated (sim. microwave). Do you have any opinion about this?”
ANSWER: I'm not too worried about this. Sometimes health food enthusiasts become really worried with all these things that it becomes an obsession. But just flying in an airplane is bad for your health to some degree, so is watching TV and working at a computer. I call it a compromise. Maybe some people are going to go live in the woods and try to avoid all of that, but for me it's a form of snobbism. You can't escape the age in which you live in.... Compromises are unavoidable.
That being said, I carried some seeds through those X-ray machines and later tried to sprout them, and they did sprout. So I don't think the machine fries your orange juice like a microwave! Don't worry about this and enjoy your trip.
