“Why do you say that extra virgin olive oil is not healthy?”
ANSWER: I would say that olive oil is not a “healthy food” the same way that whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, avocados, etc., are.
Olive oil is a refined food. They take the olive. They press it, throw the pulp out (with all the vitamins and minerals it contains), until what's left is pure fat.
Olive oil is liquid fat.
Now, I'm not AGAINST using some olive oil occasionally, but I'm simply pointing out that it is not a WHOLE food and it is not a HEALTH food.
It's just fat. And generally, people need to eat less fat, not more.
So by cutting out the olive oil from their diet, and getting their fat from the much more natural sources of fat such as nuts and seeds, they end up in a much better place. Better nutrition, less fat intake.
In the
Perfect Health Program, we go into detail about why there are so many things like olive oil that are labeled as “health food” but are not.
