DIGESTION TIME OF FRUITS

“Dear Frederic, I find your ideas concerning raw foods both insightful and similar to my own. I eat mostly fruits (one at a time) and greens throughout the day but I like to rotate what I eat.

“My doctor told me that you only need 30 min to digest between fruits, but the Fruitarian Network says at least 90 min. I was wondering about your outlook on how long to wait. I am especially confused on vegetable-fruits like tomato and bell pepper. I would love your feedback to sort all of this out.”

ANSWER: I don't think there's a “magic” number for the digestion time of foods. Some people have much stronger digestion than others. I don't suggest eating fruit every 30 minutes or even every hour. Instead, have a meal that will sustain you for a minimum of 3 hours.
