Billionaire Steve Jobs Was a Raw-Foodist

Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs, the man who revolutionized our lives more than once with the personal computer and the iPod, was once a raw-foodist.

His early experiments with the raw-food diet were well-known.

According to the story, at the time when the company Apple was founded, he was on an all-fruit diet. He threatened to call the company “Apple Computers” unless someone suggested a more interesting name by five o’ clock that day.

It seems the name stuck, and that’s why they called it Apple.

Don’t believe this story?

Watch some of the documentaries made on the history of Apple computer.

In one video I’ve seen, one of the early investors in Apple tells his version of the story, and describes how he was shocked to learn that Steve was living on fruit only!

They were hippies, full of crazy ideas and ready to change the world, and that’s what they did.

In 1998, Steve Jobs even subscribed to my magazine Just Eat An Apple. I remember when David Wolfe and I got the order. Jobs just sent an e-mail that said:

“One subscription please. Thank you. Steve”, followed by his address is Palo Alto, and his card number.

We were shocked from that order, and eager to learn more about Mr. Jobs’ interest in the raw food diet… and maybe meet him in person one day.

My early magazines were definitely not the kind to impress a multi-billionaire, but maybe he saw a similar young enthusiasm in what we were doing at the time, that resonated with his own youthful energy of doing something crazy and changing the world, when no one else believed in was possible.

In the last few years, a lot of rumors have been spread about Steve Jobs’ health.

It started when he got pancreatic cancer in 2004, which was successfully surgically removed.

Since he released the iPhone in 2007, Jobs lost a lot of weight and each of his public appearance were followed by furious speculations about his health by the blogging community and the business news folks.

Finally, on Monday, Jobs released a public statement about his health:

“As many of you know, I have been losing weight throughout 2008. The reason has been a mystery to me and my doctors. A few weeks ago, I decided that getting to the root cause of this and reversing it needed to become my #1 priority.

Fortunately, after further testing, my doctors think they have found the cause — a hormone imbalance that has been “robbing” me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy. Sophisticated blood tests have confirmed this diagnosis.

The remedy for this nutritional problem is relatively simple and straightforward, and I’ve already begun treatment.”

It always saddens me when I hear that one of my heroes is sick.

I mean, it really, REALLY means something to me.

I just wish I could do something. I wish I could help. I wish I could make him… understand.

I’m not going to speculate about Steve Job’s health. But I will say this:

I believe Steve was on the right track when he tried with the raw food diet.

Sure, he was young and a bit crazy, and trying raw foods was like smoking pot. Something you do when you’re young, but not when you’re older and you have enough maturity.

But the *true* raw food diet is not a fad, because it’s our natural diet. How can our natural diet be a fad?

I know that Steve has never given up on the idea of “natural” healing. Even when he learned that he had cancer, he tried natural treatments first. He might even have tried raw foods then.

And because he might be reading this, I will say this:

The true cure is to be found in the *cause*. When we hear that Steve decided to get at the “root cause” of his illness, and then hear accounts from doctors who found the “cause”, which is supposed to be a hormone imbalance… it makes me wonder:

What caused the hormone imbalance in the first place?

Maybe it’s the result of his surgery, or maybe it’s something else.

But one thing is certain, traditional medicine is basically clueless when it comes to establishing a cause to an illness. A symptom is always blamed on another symptom… but the actual *cause* is never found or addressed.

The raw food diet is not a *cure*, and has never been.

It’s just one of the conditions of healthful living.

True healing can occur only when:

– The cause of the problem has been identified and removed.
– The proper conditions of healthful living are supplied.

It’s the body that has the ability to heal! Not any external agent, and not even any food.

But because the cause of an illness is often found in our diet, and that a natural, optimal raw food diet is one of the conditions of healthful living, it makes the raw food diet very powerful.

It works on both ends:

– By removing the cause (or one of the causes)
– By supplying the true nutritional needs of the body

For 15 years now, I’ve been extremely passionate about finding the *truth* about health and nutrition.

Through years of painful trials and errors, after countless hours of reading old and forgotten books, and after sorting through the huge mess that we now call “natural health”, I feel incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon a system that works.

And that’s why I feel sad when my heroes get sick, and I see them hurt, searching for answers and not finding them. Because I know many people have been there, and it’s not a fun place to be.

If you believe in truth, *never* give up, because the truth is out there, and it’s just waiting for you.

The truth might be counter-intuitive, but once you understand it, it’s very logical. It’s always buried under a pile of falsehood.

And in 2009, although a lot of misinformation is out there, I believe you have access to the right information. Tens of thousands of people are now leading the way with the optimal, low-fat raw food diet, and reaching levels of health they never thought were possible.

In just a couple weeks, I’ll be releasing a series of videos for my Raw Vegan Mentor Club members, on my “Top Principles of Natural Health.”
